O Arboreto de Barcelos é um jardim botânico temático, constituído apenas por plantas autóctones de Portugal continental, que pretende servir de apoio didáctico à população escolar e tornar-se num instrumento de educação ambiental, uma permanente chamada de atenção para a biodiversidade e importância da flora portuguesa.
Situado na Escola Secundária de Barcelos, está organizado segundo critérios fito-climáticos e nele estão cultivadas quase todas as plantas lenhosas nativas, constituindo por isso a maior colecção de árvores, arbustos e subarbustos portugueses.
O Arboreto tem vindo a ser enriquecido com fetos e outras herbáceas vivazes, nomeadamente bolbos e rizomas, somando já 271 espécies e subespécies, num total de 1803 indivíduos.
Este jardim pode ser visitado, individualmente ou em grupo, todos os dias úteis, durante o funcionamento da Escola, preferentemente nos meses de Abril, Maio, Junho, Setembro, Outubro e Novembro.

The Arboretum of Barcelos is a botanical thematic garden, appointed only by indigenous plants of continental Portugal, which intends to serve of educational support to the school population and to be made into an instrument of environmental education, a constant call of attention for the biodiversity and importance of the Portuguese flora.
Located in the High school of Barcelos, it is organized according to criteria climatic-fixedly and where are cultivated almost all the woody native plants, constituting therefore the Portuguese biggest collection of trees, shrubs and undershrubs.
The Arboretum has been coming to be enriched by fetuses and other lively herbaceous, namely bulbs and rootstalks, adding already 271 species and subspecies, in a total of 1803 individuals.
This garden can be visited, individually or in groups, every working day, during school operation, preferably in April, May, June, September, October and November.
